Rehabilitating horses and instilling hope in owners and hoofcare professionals
65%
of lame nonracing sport horses
are diagnosed with navicular (Dyson, 2011).
95%
of laminitis cases
are euthanized (Orsini, et al, 2010).
45%
of all horses are euthanized
due to lameness (Pollard, et al, 2019).

Many horses end up rescues due to devastating diagnoses, such as navicular, laminitis/founder, soft tissue damage, and other distal limb issues, and are often given poor prognoses. With these diagnoses, they can be harder to adopt out as companion horses, and many times can be overlooked.
The Humble Horse, Inc. rehab center seeks to give rescues and owners of lame horses hope for soundness, through rehabilitation boarding for fosters from local rescues, as well as yearly scholarships to private owners who otherwise may not be able to afford rehab board.

The immediate impact of the rehab center is giving horses a chance at a productive, sound life and owners the ability to enjoy them for years to come.
Education opportunities for the community will ensure that local horse owners learn about lameness prevention, before they have an issues, allowing horses to thrive.
